Our Story

Youth With A Mission (YWAM) was born in 1960 through the vision of Loren Cunningham, with a heart to empower young people to “Know God and make Him known.” What began as a dream is now a global movement active in more than 140 countries. Read more →

In Belgium, that story began in 1982, when a pioneering team from YWAM Heidebeek, led by Ron Archer, laid the foundation for what would become YWAM Belgium. Over the decades, the ministry has grown, branched out, and adapted—some teams moved on, others completed their missions, and some are thriving to this day.

One of the longest-standing ministries is Message Media, a Christian bookshop in the heart of Brussels that has been actively serving since 1985, sharing God's story through creative communication.

In 2002Wim and Tanja Biesbrouck launched YWAM Kortrijk, bringing vibrant youth work and community outreach to life in West Flanders.

And in 2018Martijn and Cristin Bruggeman began a new chapter in Wallonia with YWAM Fumal, focusing on storytelling, church support, and training.

YWAM Kortrijk became a distinctly King’s Kids location, which soon became apparent from the activities. Both YWAM and King’s Kids have drawn up a slightly different list of values in their search with God. However, this does not mean a contradiction. See it as ‘viewed from a different perspective’. YWAM: how do we reach everyone to the ends of the world with the Good News? King’s Kids: how do we validate what God established at creation (such as being in relationship with Him, marriage, the family, the greater and also the spiritual family bond, ...)? Because this turns out to be the means par excellence to make God known to the people around us!

Ywam fumal is a team that started in 2018 in a small village in Wallonia. The vision is to serve and train YWAM in the area of communication as well develop more ministry into Belgium by supporting and bringing the church together.

Through the years we have served many events in video production and have as well trained many authors in their journey to write their story and publish it.
